Apply Sunscreen

You’ll notice that many of our captains wear face masks on our airboat tours in Orlando. While face masks are certainly in fashion these days, we’ve been wearing them for years for one simple reason: they protect our faces from the sun! You may choose to do the same, but if not, be sure to apply sunscreen on your face and any other exposed areas like your arms, legs, and shoulders. The sun in Florida is sizzling and your skin will be too by the end of your trip if you’re not protected.

Oh, and as long as we’re talking about the sun, make sure you bring your sunglasses too. It’s not fun to spend an entire airboat trip squinting in the sun.

Bring a Camera

If you have a fancy DSLR camera, bring that—along with an extra memory card and portable charger. You will have ample opportunity to take unbelievable photos of Everglades wildlife and while you can certainly capture them on a phone, it just doesn’t compare to a real camera. You may even take some photos worthy of printing and framing.

Keep Your Hair Under Control

If you’ve got long locks, your hair will fly around out-of-control while you’re on an airboat. The best option is to tie it back in a ponytail. Failing that, wear a hat or bring a hairbrush to use once we get back on land. Even if you have relatively short hair, a hat or headband is a good idea so you’re not spending your entire time on the boat trying to control your hair.
